Joel Kuchar

Called to the Bar in 1977, Joel is a senior practitioner, with over 30 years’ experience as a commercial and construction law litigator. Joel has provided legal counsel to lenders, builders, architects, engineers, contractors, trades and material suppliers in the construction sector, and has pursued and defended commercial disputes of all kinds, acting for banks, insurers, condominiums, partnerships and corporations, as well as individuals.
Joel is a former Chair of the Ontario bar Association Construction Section, as well as a former Director of the Toronto Construction Association. In addition, he has been an instructor, presenter and speaker at numerous programs related to construction law, as well as a published author of a number of articles relating to current construction law issues.

Joel is also a former Vice-Chair of the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, where he adjudicated numerous liquor and gaming licensing, suspension and revocation hearings. He therefore brings with him a unique and informed perspective when counseling clients in matters relating to liquor or gaming regulation.

Joel has been married to Rochelle for 37 years, and has two children, including a son who was called to the Bar as a lawyer in June, 2011.  Both Joel and Rochelle are avid golfers. Joel has also been active in the community, including serving on the Executive of various political riding associations, and Temple Sinai Congregation of Toronto, as well as the Board of the Ontario Bar Association.
